When I started in Network Marketing I had the perception that my mentor was the greatest. She was a great person and what she taught me was what I thought was the "strategy" to my MLM success. I was super wrong!
The strategy that she showed me was to make list of friends and family and invite them to home & hotel meetings. I approached my "warm market" and recruited 6 in total (after practically chase them to death for a few weeks).
The next strategy I did was some home meetings I recruited locally.I did see some success with that but that really was not the way I wanted to build my business. Was taking me way to much time and gas (and gas was not as expensive at that time)
Then I asked my mentor and others in the business if there was a strategy that I could use online?
That's when they introduced me to what I thought was the "online strategy" going online and buying leads from lead companies & make cold calls and send them to the companies website. I did terrible and I started thinking "how can I teach this to others?" I could not see the so called duplication online strategy.
Then I put my business building on HOLD and started researching for other strategy online to develop my business. During my research I found out that the traditional methods are not easy for most people that join network marketing to duplicate.
I learned the most important ''strategy" to have success in network marketing. That Marketing is most critical when it comes to building business online. Their is no need to chase prospects down to recruit them.
Why do that when you can have your prospects chase YOU down instead?
My point is just because what your mentor may teach you works for them, it doesn't mean it will work for you. Your mentor is a guide and that's all. Most people get way to attached to their mentors and this causes most people in our industry to fail.
It took me a lot of will power to separate myself from my mentor to find strategies online that really works when it comes to building a successful MLM business. This is what you must do if you want to see success. Find the "online strategy" and you will have success
Like a good friend once told me:
"For your online strategy, MARKETING is what you should be learning"
